Hommage à Picasso, 2017
Hommage à Picasso is a portfolio of works created in 1973 and 1974 by diverse artists and consists of signed and numbered lithographs, screen prints, etchings and aquatints in colours or in black and white. In the early 1970s art historian Wieland Schmied took the occasion of Pablo Picasso's 90th birthday to invite artists to pay homage to the Spaniard in the form of paintings. Among them were first and foremost Picasso’s close friends and French artists. Some time later the group was extended to international artists, among them painters of pop art like Roy Lichtenstein or Andy Warhol.
